It ain’t about the repeat of the musical chairs it is about a vision, people with track record – not just on paper – and genuine well articulated political reform. It seems the conventional wisdom now in politics is seek people who look good on paper for the party (not based on any form of public scrutiny/selection process) and hope for the best and then we go through the standard election cycle when the harm is already being done. This makes political reform an absolute imperative and anything short of that is self harm – zooming into specific policies should not be the top priority in my opinion. You see unlike the old days where there was a sufficient buffer for miscalculations, now – in this day-and-age – there is literally none whatsoever irrespective of your political affiliations or level of wealth. In a nutshell – as if needs emphasizing – without root/branch changes in the way do politics we’re losing the fight before it even started and its a waste of precious time/resources. You cannot patch up structural failures and “hope for the best” because chances are you’ll continue to keep on hoping.
