Demanding a mere inquiry of the PM is now considered a “political stunt” and the obvious follow on narrative is the same; “we now need to focus on delivering for the British people” or in layman terms “buzz off we’re busy….democratically speaking”. Archaic democracy models and structures are not just destroying democracy and its capacity to evolve but also creating a web of complex vulnerability points at multiple levels – national and foreign – and I suspect that what we know so far of such vulnerabilities (including from the Epstein files) may be the tip of the iceberg. All this is compounded by seismic shifts in global order and dependencies. Structural reform as a matter of priority is the only way forward and there are no other viable shortcuts but time is most certainly NOT on our side this late in the “game”.
