BREXIT in my opinion has been the single most revealing political “nugget” that demonstrates in no uncertain terms democratic deficiencies that stem from an archaic political system coupled with distorted visions of the past leading to unrealistic expectations for the future. The lesson I guess would be that we all need to fully understand/appreciate our history (NOT judge it) but this understanding must be based on current realities in terms of the global context we live today because this is the only way we can develop a pragmatic vision forward through the lessons we’ve learned. Alt-right politicians on the other hand have a much simpler template of operation; any form of change is a threat + “unlearn”/ignore historical facts and try to reconstruct/apply past glories within the current global context we live today. Great idea, just try and apply it without hitting a brick wall; but then again it’s the learning process that counts here right…that is if we hadn’t already learnt the same lessons decades before. The fact of the matter is alt-right politics is entirely about anti-migration and little else. Even when talking anti-migration there is no cohesive/pragmatic plan beyond building the Great Wall of Europe or dumping illegal migrants to anywhere beyond our borders. Do these actions tackle root causes of illegal migration or are they sustainable long term or do they encourage racism internally or are they reflective of our own flawed policies that led to the surge of such activity? That’s just not part of the calculus of these groups cause that’s as far as their concentration goes. Fringe political ideologies focused on short-term patchwork/banners/bold statements is the real/only threat we face today “period”, but now even traditionally liberal political parties and political unions seem to be following that same path; of course that’s only my opinion. Its great to feel good about oneself and get validation/encouragement about ones beliefs from others, just try not to be inadvertently led into the twilight zone cause at that stage you will have the false perception that you’re in control when in fact you’re driving blind.

Just a thought!
