Sloppy policies championed by ignorant politicians that deal with symptoms and focusing on most vulnerable rather than root causes (with plenty related to flawed foreign policy & defunding important aid programs). Stopping the boats should begin by assessing current foreign policy and working tirelessly to end human suffering in regions of the world way beyond our borders thanks to conflicts we’ve helped create or at the very least continue to ignore. No other sloppy shortcut can work even if deemed legal.
