Frankly though I don’t understand why he’s in hot water. His track record isn’t new whether financially like misusing EU money, his questionable funding sources and his choices of befriending disgusting figures the likes of Trump and others yet presenting himself as the common man that’s there to protect the poor and defend the country from rogue politicians and corrupt political establishment. But then all you need is a bit of unique charm, a bit of migration talking points and you’re pretty much guaranteed to be on a roll politically and well supported financially (not unlike leaders he befriends). In other words political ideology is not a necessary part the formula for people like that but the ability to scam your way into people’s confidence zone – but even that (as we continue to see with others like him) has a life span however careful you are because realities eventually kick in.
So I guess the point here is simple; its a reminder to us all that despite the soundbites and sleek presentation we should resist getting charmed by politicians and start instead getting real/challenging them whether or not we subscribe to their “stated” views otherwise they’ll continue short-changing us.
Well, that’s my opinion anyway.
