I’m truly disappointed – though I am no New Zealander – to hear this news of the resignation of PM Jacinda Ardern. In my opinion she’s truly been an inspiring leader both in terms of her track record and the values that guided her premiership particularly during the most challenging times the world has ever faced; from pandemic, to terrorism to immense geopolitical tensions. I don’t actually believe this kind of track record and brilliant leadership style can me matched anywhere in the world.

I just wanted to record my immediate reaction to this shocking news and at the same time wish her and her family all the very best for the future. I also hope she continues to engage/contribute when it comes to addressing global issues especially in relation to applying moral/universal values to help resolve the many challenges we all face today around the world because the new generation deserve much better than what we have so far delivered.

“I am leaving because with such a privileged role, comes responsibility. The responsibility to know when you are the right person to lead, and also, when you are not.” Jacinda Ardern
