A complex/sophisticated response to a question that wasn’t actually asked can be quite an embarrassing ordeal for any person. Attempting to brush it off by trying to appear clever/cute doesn’t really help much – in fact it makes the situation a whole lot worse in my opinion than if he had briefly admitted the gravity of the situation and the serious negotiations held between all the allies “period”). Sadly the NATO alliance has become an embarrassment not just in structure but in representation as well. It is slowly reaching a point of irrelevance in its current incarnation as it is no longer compatible with the new security/ideological and geopolitical challenges we face today. If anything NATO has become more of a transactional alliance NOT one based on shared values/interests. So as mentioned in a previous post it is time to develop more effective, adaptable and compatible cross-regional coalitions/alliances that make sense cause time nowadays is no one’s side. Well, that’s my theory anyway.
