Constitutional Crisis in America (and we’re not past the 1 month mark of the Trump Presidency). At it’s core this American story is one that demonstrates how vulnerable a state can become to powerful lobby groups that are intent to drive policy to protect their narrow interests-ideological or financial. This has been a big part of the Trump campaign and continues to drive his Presidency-despite the visuals I believe he is quietly being driven from behind. European governments should take the cue from this saga and build protections against any form of lobby groups and to ensure the voice the government accurately reflects non other but the voice of the people through measures fostering transparency & accountability. Lobbyism is the single greatest threat to our Democratic/Liberal values irrespective of political ideology. In intend to write a few posts in the near future-once I’ve completed some research-to expose some of the Lobby groups both in the United States and the UK.
