Well first term that comes to mind in “Analysis Paralysis”. I am sure many will get onto SM and make assessments sophisticated and simplistic ones on this big event today, so here’s my contribution to the simplistic/laymen versions of such assessments;
Kamala Harris dropped into the presidential ring without any form of contest and without any effort in making the case of why people should vote for her beyond the fact that she ain’t Trump “period”. No unique political agenda/approach beyond following the same all same all Biden policies cause that’s the shadow she’s lived under during his presidency. She has little to offer beyond that and she failed miserably to make a case for undecided voters to why they should vote for her (including ones that voted Biden to office in 2020). In other words the party nomination process itself was a sham mainly due to concerns/panic over President Biden’s health which allowed the vice president to automatically be next in line which turned out to be the end of the line; kinda like the UK version of a party nominating a candidate to become PM without any form of electoral process/contest – we just watch and have tea with biscuits if lucky. In brief it’s a case of stagnant democracies cracking up. So that’s my brief/only take on this “exciting” presidential election of 2024.
