A story that tells you all you need to know. No sorry – I stand corrected – it “emphasizes” what you already know about a conflict that is now shackling the west into submission; not only leaders but more and more its citizens that do not have same level of political/legal protections – western citizens in what was considered established democracies. As someone mentioned in the clip something along the lines of; well of course people have the right to say what they want, but not in events like sports, arts, online, offline, on the street, off the street………etc. In other words as Ed Sheeran suggested; a personal opinion I keep to myself……ahhhh, I see, so its called “freedom of thought”….for now anyway, not “freedom of speech”, after all it was freedom of thought (not speech) thats been foundational to preserving freedoms the world over, especially in the west. So in a nutshell when people are suffering what many consider genocide you most certainly can think about them but not talk about them within restraints of “a-y” but “z” may also be a bit tricky. Here’s what I would say about this conflict; Palestinian suffering has been the single most effective element that has unveiled the frailty of the so-called western democracy and by definition the so-called western values (or more accurately universal values mostly considered to be adhered to in the west) as well as the western governance model. The intentions of this model have always been based on strong moral principles but poor leadership, increased levels of corruption, foreign meddling via lobby groups from all directions, the chipping away of the commitment to values (and the distortion of these values) in favor of quick solutions or prioritizing financial incentives over moral principles is now – not threatening – but actually turning the west towards the past, not seeking lessons but seeking inspiration in proudly marching backwards. Does that make any sense? Perhaps for some, so lets see the wisdom of this approach if you’d care to wait; wisdom founded on fear/reactionary impulses; fear from being overly concerned/distracted by the wrong threat because rather than people thinking/assessing for themselves surrounding realities, they’re merely following soundbites of their lead, or resorting to protest voting because people fail to realize the tough nugget we all face (no colors involved) – a threat on democracy supercharged by a fake war founded on racism. The EU on the other is doing all to find new leads, Mark Carney, Kajsa Ollongren having been proved to be an utter failure in many policy areas – particularly foreign policy – in these dangerous times but thats a story for another day…..but safe to say its unlikely to help in any way.
Just a thought….
