There’s been plenty written/talked about related to this matter, so without rehashing the talking points and the excellent analysis done let me just make a small contribution here; Although we have yet to see conclusive evidence implicating Saudi Arabia in disappearance and/or death of Jamal Khashoggi we should really consider these related points;

  1. There has yet to be any firm reaction from the head of the British government or any other European government for that matter; unlike the previous case of the Skripal poisoning case in Britain in March 2018. True the investigation is still in the works but indications are clear and at the very least there should be not just be condemnation but also a firm commitment to a specific set of consequences until this issue is indeed resolved without implicating Saudi Arabia and implications otherwise. What we do see instead is the Business as Usual approach which is a combination of empty statements from some government officials with no action of consequence, a goto trend when financial incentives or power lobbyist take charge of our policy structures.
  2. As follow on from the line of thought above is the fact that in the age of Trump & BREXIT what we seem to be witnessing is a growing trend of Selective Political Hypocrisy/Double Standards where foreign policy is involved mostly driven by the Power of the Purse and I suspect this will be the future of British Policy (foreign or otherwise) in post BREXIT Britain; at least Donald Trump was honest about it in his statement during a recent interview; I don’t like stopping massive amounts of money that’s being poured into our country on — I know they’re talking about different kinds of sanctions, but they’re spending $110 billion on military equipment and on things that create jobs, like jobs and others, for this country. Is this really the stooped standards we follow nowadays – if so please check my post below for some thoughts.

Finally, what I would suggest for people complaining about Immigration, Terrorism or Sovereignty of Policy and as I mentioned in many previous posts, follow the money and you will likely conclude that we are largely to blame for being oblivious -particularly on issues of Foreign Policy – of flawed government policies/actions driven mostly by corruption and focused on purely financial incentives which are in effect accumulating taxes we will eventually pay; so that good old saying “What Goes Around Comes Around” hits the mark and is really the only phrase worth remembering. It is also worth remembering the definition of terrorism; “premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents”, so let’s begin to deal with realities for a change.

Hope this helps!
