The nice, convenient and simplistic blame game starts again where politicians – and more importantly non political actors mixed with a bunch of criminals – seek to again hijack a genuine movement motivated by genuine concerns to change the status quo when it comes to standards of living and economic inequality. Have we seen this before? Now politicians are in on the game and want to play along to score political points and shrug off any responsibility while politicians in charge have one thing on their mind; shift the blame in an effort to lower expectations and rather than help resolve only “engage” to buy time while they seek workarounds to undermine freedoms. Unscrupulous media on the other hand are keen to move narratives into different directions (even migrants – the convenient poker chip – have been magically added to this “Witch’s Brew”) as the cause for the demonstrations. OK agreed, this is one interpretation but here’s another observation which I think most can agree on; with the current social turmoil, economic and geopolitical challenges around the world and moving from a rules based order (or semi-rules based order to be accurate) towards a more volatile/reactionary system based on pure power where everything is up for grabs and disinformation coupled with clever AI rules; all this happening in the background while extremist political parties – some with criminal track record/associations – are inches away from taking control in the west at this precise moment in world history, my question is simple; what would be your personal assessment be as best case scenario that’s likely to come out of all of these elements combined or should I just ask ChatGPT? The key salient point is simple; when flying through severe turbulence your pilot is your life line, and unfortunately I see very little evidence of true leadership that fully comprehends/appreciates this special moment in history because most frame it through a very restrictive prism which distorts the entire context and eliminates any possibility for dealing with challenges. To so sum up, “brace” danger ahead.
