Wake up calls are sometimes more important than an event in itself cause it allows us to recognise realities we’ve been living in for far too long; the ride on complacency train through fantasy land. In my opinion and at this precise time in history middle ground politics is no longer an option; there is only the left and there is the right and everything else in between is pretty much ineffective as a political position (so is borrowing talking points from one side so as to gain traction for the political ‘brand’ a.k.a “a political scam”) beyond causing the imbalance to expand/help tilt the balance to one or the other. This is the age – as I continue repeating – of conflict (if not total war) of ideologies, not of politics in its more strict sense and if we don’t all recognise this reality and adapt our strategy to be within this particular context, the conflict has already been won before it even started. It takes bright/inspiring leadership that unites and begins campaigning (not at election time) but right now, not against each other but against rightwing ideology and purely based on core/fundamental values both at home and abroad; this translates in reality to a political coalition on the left. Shy, inconsistent actions – again – would be a misrepresentation of this moment in history and a huge waste of time/resources. Now I see why I’m worried….
To sum up
So this is the moment where you need to pick the side that is consistent with your values and be prepared to defend them not borrow/adapt your stance to promote your political “brand” – this is not politics, this is a scam. This is a moment that requires complete unity within ideological left or the battle of hearts, minds and values is lost before it even starts.
