First things first; the revelation that a leader is invited to a news conference with the american child before even any negotiations start is absolutely hilarious; that’s an entire satire show in of itself. As for Carney’s comments about how he perceives Iran/conflict – something many European leaders subscribe to – here’s what’s missing in my opinion; while many do not subscribe to Iran’s form of suppressive regime – though many ‘ally’s’ in the region follow this pattern – the question is what is missing from this picture. In macro photography when you zoom in too much on your subject you may well be missing showing the background for context. The context in this instance is the history both of the Iranian regime itself from before the time of the Shah to the present day as well as the decades long occupation of Palestine. The question you should then ask is this; what is the sole constant/consistent factor that has been the primary contributor to this mess in the region vis-a-vis Iran, the issue of occupation and the regional instability as a whole? It comes back to foreign meddling in a resource rich region; thats the sole common factor that created/supper charged this mess. The 2nd factor you should consider is the Nuclear deal signed in 2015 and was subsequently ripped up by trump as well as the tremendous pressure the Iranian people have suffered since then due to sanctions slapped on the fly from every direction as promoted by another ‘ally’in the same way it pulled the U.S. into direct conflict with Iran (from nowhere – just pure magic). So when you squeeze a country from all directions, what options are you expecting that country to take? So instead of ignorant statements of Mr. Carney perhaps in the same way the EU is ‘mulling’ around negotiating with Russia as mentioned in the article linked below it should do precisely the same with Iran if it is to protect what leverage it has left in when it comes to mideast foreign policy.
