Well, we’ve seen genocide against civilians and now even religious symbols are also being destroyed, but of course that’s not say religious structures and personnel – including christians – have not been in the firing line and open to abuse for decades; this is not new. What is new is the apology from a head of government due to this particular graphic symbol of someone revered especially by Christians and Muslims; other instances just fade away in silence and you can research these instances yourself. What’s happening here is simple; a political embarrassment in the west as it contradicts key aspects of the image they’ve constructed to an “ally” which turns out to be a “lie”. What comes out of this from the western political establishment; well not much expected beyond a few statements here and there and we’re back to business as usual, but for many others I suspect that image of that “ally” has already been smashed to smithereens.

With all that said we have seen many in Israel who do not support these racist/radical policies and actually help expose these disgusting actions with all the risks/threats they face. I hope one day they become the new vision for Israel in a region desperately in need for peace, reconciliation and development. A time when many Arab jews feel the time to return to their original homeland and those of their ancestors across the middle east; in other words the way this region was always meant to be in the land of the Abrahamic religions.

Just a thought.
