I guess the EU’s suggestion of it having passed the “Ceuta” test after the border breach considering all the wildly disgusting attacks on Spain after the incident instead of supporting it is kinda like passing the smell test during anosmia – blocked nose from a cold. It’s truly fascinating how the EU PR machine is able to morph a narrative 180 degrees from what was an obvious internal breakdown between member states. Here’s another method; acknowledge it and deal with it transparently to demonstrate confidence in the union and do all to ensure a proper/transparent investigation is underway to help reassure the public this will not be repeated because as it stands the blowback from this incident when it comes to how its being used by right-wing media/political parties is live/active and will certainly not do the EU any favors. So in a nutshell a disappointing response by the EU which in turn accelerates the internal fracture created; this is one morphing of narratives that may cost the union dearly if continued to be left unresolved.
