Today marks the 8 year anniversary since the death of Faten Hamama. Faten Hamama wasn’t only a great actress, she was also Omar Sharif’s ex wife and despite their marriage not lasting long due to his multiple affairs she continued to be the love of his life until his death which happened to be the same year she died 7 months later in July 2015; a love story worthy of its own film of a young talented actor who’s rise to international fame results at ending the most important relationship he’s ever had/lives to regret it the rest of his life. They starred together in wonderful movies; here is one of her interviews in 1963 for a French channel, and here are some nice clips from one of their best films together; Omar Sharif in my opinion was always at his best playing Egyptian movies (especially early ones) and I could never understand the amount of success he achieved playing foreign films including Lawrence of Arabia and Dr. Zhivago when comparing his performance/style in Egyptian movies. Anyway I digress because this is a moment of remembrance of Faten Hamama the most beloved actress in Egypt and the Mideast where she was given the title of “Lady of the Arab Screen” i.e movie screen. I hope one day people around the world see her work and she is accredited for her talent internationally; though I suspect for her and her fans that would not bear too much significance. For now may she RIP and may she always be remembered for her incredible talent/professionalism as an actress and for her integrity/kindness as a human being.
Aujourd’hui marque le huitième anniversaire de la mort de Faten Hamama. Faten Hamama n’était pas seulement une grande actrice, elle était aussi l’ex-femme d’Omar Sharif et malgré leur mariage qui n’a pas duré longtemps en raison de ses multiples affaires, elle a continué à être l’amour de sa vie jusqu’à sa mort qui s’est avérée être la même année qu’elle est décédée. 7 mois plus tard en juillet 2015 ; une histoire d’amour digne de son propre film d’un jeune acteur talentueux qui a atteint une renommée internationale et qui a mis fin à la relation la plus importante qu’il ait jamais eue / vit pour le regretter le reste de sa vie. Ils ont joué ensemble dans de merveilleux films; voici une de ses interviews en 1963 pour une chaîne française, et voici de jolis extraits d’un de leurs meilleurs films ensemble; Omar Sharif, à mon avis, a toujours été à son meilleur en jouant des films égyptiens (en particulier les premiers) et je n’ai jamais pu comprendre le succès qu’il a remporté en jouant des films étrangers, notamment Lawrence of Arabia et Dr Zhivago, en comparant sa performance / son style dans les films égyptiens. Quoi qu’il en soit, je m’égare parce que c’est un moment de commémoration de Faten Hamama, l’actrice la plus aimée d’Égypte et du Moyen-Orient, où elle a reçu le titre de “Dame du Cinéma Arabe”. J’espère qu’un jour, les gens du monde entier verront son travail et qu’elle sera reconnue pour son talent à l’échelle internationale. bien que je soupçonne que pour elle et ses fans, cela n’aurait pas trop d’importance. Pour l’instant, qu’elle RIP et qu’on se souvienne toujours d’elle pour son incroyable talent / professionnalisme en tant qu’actrice et pour son intégrité / gentillesse en tant qu’être humain.
