The Age of Human Displacement

2 minutes ago! Large-scale typhoon Pepito in Catanduanes, Philippines! The world is praying!

Whether we’re talking regional conflicts or climate change one can anticipate that we are heading for decades of mass human displacement due to economic devastations from these factors not to mention the human cost alone. It is kind of strange that when we read about UN COP conferences or others focused on climate change the focus in the main seems to be on future targets in terms of policies yet what is even more urgent is dealing with ramifications of extreme weather conditions people around the world face – as of today – due to lack of planning, investment/funding as well as of training emergency services that are not equipped/trained to deal with the levels of devastation we see today; more so in developing nations. There needs to be global coordinated effort to deal with this mess from these 2 factors because as the title suggests its in everyones interest to do so “period”.

Just a thought!
