A new global order based on conventional power pushing towards a new global disorder based on unconventional power; lets see how things pan out. That said it is alway quite reassuring for the EU to release a “pragmatic” statement along the lines; “the developments in Iran were greatly concerning” – and reaffirming the EU’s “steadfast commitment to safeguarding regional security and stability.”
Wow, how wise/inspiring though I didn’t read anything pertaining to safeguarding “International law” but I may have missed it. And in terms of “safeguarding regional security” are they talking about Europe?? It is truly sad that no one is concerned of the long term ramifications of these cowardly cowboy tactics. I’m no fan of the Iranian regime nor many others in the region but I’m no fan of cowboy politics either. European leaders have to grow up and understand that without [consistently] protecting International Law/norms and empowering (NOT undermining) the United Nations no form of development is sustainable irrespective of how many agreements they sign off with China; unless of course they decide to create their own Great Wall of Europe which also comes with plenty of caveats.
As for the UK, well Keir Starmer also comes out with a ridiculous statement which in a nutshell provides an excuse for the attack also without word about how this undermines global order & international law. It is becoming clear to me that this man’s allegiances are suspect (and have been consistently so for some time) – in my opinion. Well, these are the unfortunate realities that we see across Europe today and unfortunately there’s little one can do at this point.
