Well I guess that’s one form alliance (one that comes with a stick). As for the so called “nationalist” governments/trends across Europe they certainly prove a point; they’re purely about racist ideologies focused on culture/immigration and pretty much fall flat in all else relating to national interests or foreign policy except for one (follow the guy with the “stick”) – I guess there’s also “value/s” in not getting hurt. Or maybe I’m a bit too harsh on them on the “flat” side of things cause liberal voices do that too so what precisely is the difference between them from that specific angle? The reality is simple and much more nuanced; it is more about ideological differences and less about actions/policies that actually follow such ideologies; more theatrics/punchlines and less of anything that comes after that. You see, serious politics – at least in my opinion – is not really fit for punchlines, posturing and narrow/distorted ideologies (either from within or synced – privately or publicly – with foreign influence/”guidance”) – it is much more about values and a more pragmatic view on implementing policies (national or foreign) – NOT adapting values to narratives that treat situations differently. Last point; if the donald trump phenomenon in and of itself does not dissuade people from following blindly like a herd any form extreme ideology or corrupt politicians that defend values only in punchline terms irrespective of genuine long term national interests; the only thing left for a political layman like me to say is; OK lets play!
