Two points;
- The approach of banning trade on settlements is one that’s been tried and tested and already failed miserably as we can clearly see.
- If the Israeli government itself is promoting the development/expansion of illegal settlements and promoting despicable attitudes towards Palestinian – the real owners of the land – while promoting a PR campaigns – online and offline – to question the proposition its Palestinian territory then what precisely is the point of these policies beyond giving further space/time for the government to do what it wants while western governments wash their hands from the atrocities committed , which to be crystal clear many western governments are complicit in including UK governments.
What’s the approach? Well in my opinion there must be trade sanctions on Israel as a state, political/diplomatic pushback and the end of military support until such time a) these actions are permanently reversed and b) negotiations begin on ending the occupation on the basis of a two-state solution – this is not rocket science.
Anything else translates to “Nada” and we’ll be back in the not too distant future to discuss what to do next after we face the same cycle of failures due to the same cycle of violence.
What’s my expectations? “Nada”, “0”, “Zilch”!
