AI: Palantir Challenged in Europe (OK, then what?)

BRUTAL: Palantir FIRED by France's FBI - USA Cut Off AI Friday, France Changed Plumbing Tuesday

The approach is right but if the sole reason is foreign dependencies; does this mean that Palantir’s weaponisation of AI both in terms of individual liberties and usage of it in illegal/brutal conflicts is not a factor? What are the standards of using AI by governments (or even for companies delivering AI nationally), who sets them and what are the protections in developing and applying them? In other words this is – or should be – much more than a matter of sovereignty and external dependencies.
