A brilliant introduction – as usual – by John Oliver host of Last Week Tonight of HBO about the ramifications of facial recognition on our privacy and freedoms which are in direct threat of this technology if left unregulated. As with many aspects of governance in this day and age political activism is the only real protection we have if we are to be successful of pushing back against the abuse of power and the overreach of technology in our daily lives. Just because some may not be directly affected by these developments right now does not mean we should let our guards down otherwise we’re actively engaged in continuing to chip away the foundation of our Democracy – or what’s left of it – and endangering our future in the process. So in brief be acutely aware of these changes and make your voice heard by linking up with others who share your concern – this should be our approach moving forward.
